Puppy/Kitten
Wellness Program -
During the pediatric life stage, frequent exams and vaccinations
are needed to monitor healthy growth and development.
Since infectious diseases and parasites are most life threatening
to puppies and kittens, frequent trips to the doctor are needed to
establish a basic vaccination and parasite control program.
Adult
Wellness Program
- Adult pets, ages 1 to 6 years, need annual wellness exams and
vaccinations. At this time,
important issues such as diet and weight management, parasite control,
dental health and skin care are addressed.
Semi-Annual
Exams
- We recommend starting our twice-yearly
examination
protocol between years
1 to 7.
In addition to vaccinations appropriate for your pet, we will also perform
blood chemistry panels with a CBC to establish baselines and to help with
early detection of disease.
Mature
pets over 7 years of age should not only continue the twice-yearly
physical exam, appropriate vaccination protocol and blood test, but also
have additional testing, such as blood pressure and urinalysis performed.
Just as with humans, these test are important for continued good health.
Senior
Wellness Program
- Senior pets need a wellness exam twice yearly.
Special care for aging pets involves trying to avoid premature
aging, minimizing physical and emotional stress, meeting special
nutritional needs, and having a regular exercise program.
Your veterinarian will recommend special procedures, including
blood testing, urinalysis, blood pressure and Glaucoma screens to
determine if your older pet has special needs.
Surgery
- We
offer the most advanced surgical techniques and technology. We recommend
that all patients be carefully screened for safety, and we use the safest
anesthetics for your pet. Surgical services and facilities include: fully
trained veterinary and technical staff, to ensure the safest, most
efficient, state-of-art procedures for your pet; advance sterilization
techniques; ECG and oxygen saturation monitors; intensive after surgery
care and full blood testing.
Laser
Surgery – We
are the only clinic in the area able to offer state-of-the-art Laser
surgery to our clients. Laser surgery results in less bleeding, less
tissue swelling, and less pain following surgery. We strongly recommend
this option as being the best for you pet.
Pre-Surgical Screening
– We recommend
that all pets coming in for surgery have the extra screenings. With
EKGs, our doctors can check for abnormal heart rhythms which will help us
determine if we need to alter our anesthetic protocol or delay anesthesia
until the problem is corrected. We can perform a blood analysis that will
provide us with more in-depth information on the health status of your pet
before surgery. These are similar to the blood test routinely performed in
human medicine.
In-House
Diagnostics
– We have a
complete in-house lab for blood chemistries, complete blood counts,
urinalyses, breeding related test, heartworm testing and fecal exams.
Pain Management
– Veterinary
patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people
do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the
essence of good patient care.
Video
Otoscope - Ear problems? This state-of-the-art machine allows
us to visualize and work much deeper in the ear canal than ever before. We
are able to irrigate, and perform minor surgical procedures that in the
past would have been quite invasive.
Early
Admitting Service – We
offer pet “early admitting service”. Pets may be admitted in the
morning between the hours of 7:00 am – 9:00 am Mon. – Fri. for
treatment, bathing, vaccinations, etc and may be picked up within 30
minuets of closing time for that day.
Ultrasound
– This non-invasive, state-of-the-art
technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal
organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs.
Digital
Radiology
– or
x-rays – help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal,
cardiovascular (cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and
urinary systems.

Dentistry
–
Regular professional cleaning is important to
maintaining your pet’s teeth. It’s
a known fact that we can add 2 years to the life of the pet simply by
keeping its mouth clean. After removing dental tartar and calculus,
technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more
resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel
and reduce tooth sensitivity. Not only will your pets breathe smell
better, but also there will be less chance of dental disease, often caused
by a buildup of bacteria under the gums. This will decrease the chance of
kidney and heart disease caused by infections spreading through the body
from the mouth.
Lodging
– Pets are like
children – we feed, nurture and lavish attention on them. When your pet
is staying with us, our highly qualified kennel attendants will treat your
pets as if they are a family member. We
monitor their every move. We provide tender loving care and offer extra
hand walks and additional exercise periods. We have separate cat and dog
facilities. All pets must be current on required vaccines and free of
internal and external parasites.
Bathing
–
Treat your pet to a luxurious bath.
Your pet will feel fresh and revitalized. It is also beneficial for pets
with certain skin ailments allowing prescribed medicated shampoo to
penetrate and treat the skin. The massaging effect loosens dead layers of
skin, removes loose hair and during your pets shedding period it will
loosen hair, in turn preventing matting and possible skin infections. Services also include complimentary nail trim anal gland
expression and ear cleaning.
Day
Care
– Is your pet unhappy or lonely while you’re
at work? Can’t get home for lunch to let your companion out for their
potty break? We can give your
companion the personal attention he or she deserves throughout the day. We
can offer your pet TLC during the day at a reasonable cost. This way they
will not have to spend the day alone or go all day without their scheduled
potty breaks.
Referrals –
There
are two referral veterinary practices in this area, Unifour Veterinary
Referrals and Carolina Veterinary Specialists. We have the ability to
refer your pet for a consultation with board certified specialists in the
following areas: Ophthalmology, Orthopedic, Critical Care, Oncology,
Dermatology, Total Hip Replacement, Myelography, Neurosurgery, Imaging and
Hyperthyroidism in cats.
Microchip
– This
is a professional way to identify your pet in the event he or she becomes
lost. Just like a vaccination, it’s injected under the skin, where it
remains for permanent identification. A special scanner that identifies a
personal, one-of-a-kind, identification number that can be traced back to
you detects the chip. These scanners
are used by veterinary facilities and Animal Shelters. Microchips
have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families.
