Melanie-Medical Administrator
 

Melanie was raised in Mooresville , NC and still lives there with her husband Donnie, daughter Marian and grandchildren Ophelia and Zane.  They have a very large “extended” family consisting of 6 dogs, 4 house cats, 6 horses and 12 barn cats.  Mel was first hired as a Veterinary Assistant with the Animal Hospital of Statesville in November of 1976.  She left in 1980 to work with Statesville Bovine & Equine Clinic until 1986, when she accepted the position of Veterinary Nurse.  In 2002, she was promoted to Head Technician-Medical Supervisor.  She attended Level 1 and Level 2 AAHA Veterinary Management Development School in Denver , CO . In 2010, Melanie also completed Veterinary Management courses at Webster Veterinary University in Charlotte, North Carolina. January of 2004, she was promoted to Medical Administrator.  When Mel is not at the clinic, she enjoys riding horses & spending time with her grandchild
ren.

Angela, Vet. Nurse
Patient Services Director

 
Angela grew up in Union Grove , NC .  She and her husband, Tony, live in Statesville , NC .  They have three dogs, Daisy, Jessie and Chloe, and two cats, Lanie and Stinky.  Angela worked as a Veterinary Nurse with the Animal Hospital of Statesville since 1996, while pursuing her MOA (Medical Office Assistant) degree at Mitchell Community College .  In January of 2004, Angela was promoted to Veterinary Nurse Supervisor.  Angela spends her free time working on various crafts, being outdoors and shopping. She loves to vacation in Charleston, SC.

Diane, RVT
 

Diane has been at the Animal Hospital of Statesville since 1986.  She grew up in North Carolina , as well, and graduated from Alexander Central High School .  She graduated with honors from Central Carolina Technical College with an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Science.  She was a member of the Alpha Theta Tau Honor Society.  She is married to Billy, and has a daughter, Jessica.  She claims she has “too many” pets – 2 dogs (Buddy and Image), 3 house cats (Oreo Jr., Simba and Sparky), 2 barn cats (Smokey Joe and Stripey), and 2 horses – Chief and Ginger.  She loves to spend her time off horseback riding, and walking with her dogs.   She’s an accomplished vocalist and loves Broadway musicals.  She enjoys cross stitching and reading, too.  She came to the Animal Hospital of Statesville when she applied for her college externship here, and she said “they kept me!”

Jamie, RVT
  
Jamie was born and raised in Harmony, NC where she currently resides with her husband Kirt, and daughter Audrey. They have a Jack Russell Terrier named Rudy and a Basset Hound named Kramer. Jamie graduated from North Iredell High School and continued on to Gaston Technical College to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. She started with the Animal Hospital of Statesville in April of 2002. When not at work, she likes to spend time at the beach and with her family and friends.

Kyle-Veterinary Nurse

Kyle was born in Dallas, TX, but grew up in Upper St. Clair, PA, where she also graduated from high school. She attended college at Maryville College in Maryville, TN, majoring in Sign Language Interpreting, but later transferred to the University of Tennessee where she majored in Deaf Education. Kyle has two sons, Mark and Dan Holland, and 3 stepsons, Jodie, Derek and Shane Cook. She is married to Roger, and they live in the countryside near Albemarle, in Stanly County. Kyle and Roger have lots of cats – too many to name! Her inside cats are Marlin, Purrkins, Max, Nugget, Spook, Bob and Flash. When she isn’t working, Kyle enjoys photography, and works with Nature’s Photography Workshops and PicsREasy photo books. She also enjoys hiking, music (piano), and quilting, among other things. Kyle started with the Animal Hospital of Statesville in 1996. She had always been interested in becoming a technician. She ran the Northside office of AHS until 2001, when she joined the main hospital. Kyle loves the Animal Hospital. She says the people she works with are great, and have become like family to her. She feels the practice works really hard to provide the best in healthcare to the pets we serve.
  

Jessica - RVT
 
Jessica was born in Hickory, NC. She lived in Charleston, SC and Virginia before moving to Claremont, NC, where she’s lived for the past 8 years. Jessica graduated from Bunker Hill High School and attended CVCC for 2 ½ years. She recently graduated from Gaston College with an Associate of Applied Sciences in Veterinary Technology. She is engaged to Marty, and they have four Australian Cattle dogs named Blue, Sadie, Smoke and Daisy, and a ball python named Sidney. Jessica loves horseback riding, reading, hiking, and riding four-wheelers. She’s currently learning how to play the guitar and banjo, and is starting to learn about photography. Jessica started with the Animal Hospital as a kennel assistant, then moved up to veterinary assistant. Now that she’s graduated, she is a veterinary technician.

Kelly - Veterinary Nurse
 

Kelly was born in Louisville, KY and grew up in Memphis, TN. Her family moved to North Carolina in 2000 and she graduated from Alexander Central High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology/Chemistry from the University of North Carolina – Wilmington and is currently enrolled in Mitchell Community College’s nursing program. She and her husband, Jacob, have two pets named Dixie and Ty – both black Labrador Retrievers. Kelly enjoys spending her time off from work (and school) with her family and friends, and enjoys taking vacations to the beach. She started as a Veterinary Technician at the Animal Hospital of Statesville in 2007. 

Melissa - RVT
 

Melissa was born and raised in Harmony, NC and currently lives there with her husband, John. She first worked with the Animal Hospital of Statesville in May of 2005. At that time, she was a Technician Assistant. Melissa came back to work with AHS in October of 2007. She graduated from Gaston Technical College with an Associate degree in Applied Science in Veterinary Medical Technology. Melissa and John have two cats, Snickers and Dejavu, and a Doberman Pinscher named Jackson. Melissa enjoys reading, doing puzzles, watching movies and singing in her spare time. 

Jessica - Veterinary Assistant
 
Jessica (“G”) is a Statesville, NC native. She grew up in Iredell County and graduated from North Iredell High School. Jessica works at the Animal Hospital as a veterinary technician, but is also studying to be a Radiology Technician. Jessica has 5 horses and 5 dogs, including Blue Heelers named “Dallas” and “Ruby”. She spends her spare time riding horses and performing in rodeos. She was the Junior Southern Rodeo Association Queen from 2002 to 2003. G loves to be outside, and enjoys spending time with family and friends. She started with the Animal Hospital of Statesville in 2008.

Dena - Veterinary Nurse
 

Dena was born and raised in Punta Gorda, FL. She graduated from Charlotte High School and attended Edison College where she earned her Associate of Arts in Psychology. She has seven pets: a Siberian Husky named Tohopka, a Rottweiler named Athena, two cats – Frankie and J.J., and three horses – two Tennessee Walkers named Sam and Shadow, and a Quarter horse named Shaker. When she isn’t working, she enjoys being outdoors running, hiking or trail riding. She likes to spend time with all her pets. After moving to North Carolina from Florida, she wanted to stay in the veterinary field and said she was happy to take advantage of the “chance to work with the wonderful staff” at AHS.

IN MEMORY OF KIM MCCOY
JANUARY 02, 1964 - JULY 15, 2007

 Kim McCoy-Veterinary Nurse
Kim grew up in Cleveland, NC. She started with the Animal Hospital of Statesville back in 1983 as a Technician Assistant, and then left us in 1986 to work as a technician at another facility. Kim received her EMT certification in 1992 and her CNA certification in 1993. In May of 2005, Kim came back to the Animal Hospital of Statesville as a Veterinary Nurse. 

On July 15, 2007, Kim was fatally injured in a car accident. We all miss her very much. She was a dear friend and a valued co-worker.
