Dr. Nichola Gaither

Veterinarian, Medical Director

DVM

Dr. Nichola Gaither joined the Animal Hospital of Statesville in 2005 and now serves as the Medical Director of the Statesville location. Her servant leadership approach pushes the team to stay on the cutting edge of medicine and patient care.

Dr. Gaither graduated from North Carolina State University with both her Bachelor of Science and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Having worked as a veterinary nurse at AHS prior to college, she decided to return home with her husband after graduation and joined the staff as one of our veterinarians. Her gentle leadership and compassionate mentorship has made her an integral asset as Medical Director at the Statesville location.

Dr. Gaither is thankful to be able to work at a job she loves and finds joy in serving others. At her core, she finds purpose and meaning in helping and loving all of God's creatures - pets and people alike. She also enjoys helping the next generation, whether that is mentoring veterinary students or speaking to a preschool class. In addition to being a skilled veterinarian, she has advanced training in cardiology and is able to offer Animal Hospital patients a higher caliber of care. She also has a special place in her heart for cats, who seem to be drawn to her warm and peaceful nature.

Born and raised on a farm in Iredell County, Dr. Gaither still lives on the farm with her family. She is a devoted wife and mother to her husband Thad, her daughter, Carson, and her son, Graham. She spends most of her time outside the hospital supporting her kids at their various sporting events: cross country, wrestling, football and rodeo. When able to get away, Dr. Gaither and her family are Disney enthusiasts and enjoy time outdoors hiking. She has two dogs (an Australian Shepherd, "Captain" and a Labrador Retriever, "Layla") and 3 cats that think they own the place (Summer", "Leo" and "Rossi"). Leo and Layla enjoy going to the schools with Dr. Gaither.
