B.S. Pre-Veterinary Science

Lily, our newest VPC, is a Virginian, having been born in the small town of Lovettsville, Virginia and growing up in Louisa, VA, which is northwest of the capital city of Richmond. She graduated from Louisa County High School and went on to Lees-McRae College where she earned her Bachelors of Science, majoring in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. It was there that she met now fellow VPC, Ella, who also attended Lees-McRae and majored in Pre-Veterinary Medicine!  Both Lily and Ella have upbeat, positive attitudes that have made them a joy to work with!

Lily’s been working with animals all her life, as have most veterinary-field staff members. She has 4 pets – a cat, a gecko, a pigeon and a sugar glider!  What a variety!  She’s also worked with May Wildlife Rehabilitation Center on campus at Lees-McRae in Banner Elk which aided her education while training their ambassador animals, caring for, medicating and restraining a variety of wild creatures. Previous employment with another animal hospital gave her lots of skills to put to good use at AHS! Those experiences also gave her confidence in communicating with pet owners and showing compassion to the animals in her care.

Her free time is filled with lots and lots of reading. She enjoys botany and has what sounds like a rapidly growing plant collection!

Lily is also driven to achieve the lofty goals of applying to veterinary school or working towards earning her RVT, or Registered Veterinary Technician credentials. Working with a teaching hospital, such as ours has become, will help her gain clinical hours to increase her value as a potential student in either discipline.
